Welcome!

Can you believe the first semester is almost over?  Soon, I will return to Sinagua High School in Flagstaff, Arizona, U.S.A.  and Mrs.  Nandi will return to The United Missionary Girls' High School in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.   It is always good to come home, but  I know we both leave friends and experiences that "will flash upon the inward eye"  for years to come.

United Missionary Girls High School faces an ongoing challenge.  The campus and building are historic, but funding is meagre, so upkeep is a continuing problem.  Paint, bulletin boards, even chalk are hard to come by; and yet students love their school and teachers love their students.  This web site is an attempt to capture a little of the unique spirit of the school.  I plan to add student profiles and pictures to the scrapbook before I leave in December.  Enjoy!

Individual classes perform skits, dancing and recitations in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day.

My name is Kim Holland.  I am an English teacher at Sinagua High School in Flagstaff, Arizona. I have wanted to participate in a Fulbright teacher exchange for quite a while.  This May I was given the opportunity to come to the United Missonary Girls' High School in Kolkata (Calcutta), India to exchange with Ms. Shubalaksmi Nandi who is teaching at SHS.  This site is one way that I hope to share the experience with family, friends and students.
