United Missionary Girls’ High School  first opened in 1834 as a boarding school for twenty-four boys. The premises later shifted from Alipore to Bhownipur when a girls’ section was added in 1837. The schools shared a campus, but were run separately.

In 1916, the Methodist Missionary Society and British Missionary Society combined with the London Missionary Society to become United Missionary Girls’ High School.

United Missionary has been blessed with inspired leadership from dedicated principals. These  women include--
